It's not the NHL trade deadline but the Minnesota Wild have been busy Wednesday with two trades. Earlier in the day, the team confirmed that it sent defenseman Calen Addison to the San Jose Sharks and now the Wild have made another trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Wild are sending the Lightning a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft in exchange for defenseman Zach Bogosian, the teams confirmed Wednesday afternoon.

The 33-year-old was the third overall pick in the 2008 draft and has made his journey in the NHL with stops in Atlanta, Winnipeg, Toronto, Buffalo and the past three seasons with the Lightning.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli summed it up nicely by saying the Wild essentially moved a 23-year-old offensive-minded defenseman in Addison for a veteran, "hard-nosed" defender.

Addison will likely be on the power play unit in San Jose, but he had been essentially booted from the power play units with the Wild this season.

Bogosian figures to slot in on Minnesota's penalty kill and work as part of the third defensive pairing with either Dakota Mermis or Daemon Hunt. With Jared Spurgeon expected back any day, he will undoubtedly pair with Jonas Brodin as the top blue liners while Brock Faber and Jake Middleton can handle the second D-pair.
