Wild's Marc-Andre Fluery: 'I'm not going anywhere'

"I don't want to keep moving the kids around."

Any questions surrounding Marc-Andre Fluery's future at the Minnesota Wild were put to rest Monday at the veteran goalie's exit press conference.

"I'm tired of moving. I'm not going anywhere," said Fluery when asked about his desire to be back in Minnesota even if it means he plays backup to Filip Gustavsson.

"I love the guys here, love Gus [Filip Gustavsson]," Fluery continued. "Obviously I love playing too. That's why I'm still playing. Get out there and have some fun and win games. It's the coaches decision and I'll live with it."

The 38-year-old goalie started just one game in the Wild's first round series loss to the Stars, a 7-3 game two blowout. Fluery did replace Gustavsson for the final period in the series ending game six loss Friday night.

The future Hall of Famer said Friday that he maybe has one more year before retiring. Fluery has one more year left on a two-year deal he signed with the Wild last offseason.

The three-time Stanley Cup winning goalie will have a $3.5m cap hit in 2023-24. The Wild currently have just $3.4m in cap space heading into the offseason, according to CapFriendly.

Fluery went 24-16-4 this season with Wild while being in a rotation with Filip Gustavsson.
