Arch Manning recruitment: One school emerges as favorite for 2023 quarterback

The question of the 2023 college football recruiting cycle continues to be where No. 1 player and quarterback Arch Manning will play his NCAA career.

And, if you're going by expert predictions, one school appears to have taken the lead on that score.

Texas is the new favorite to sign Arch Manning next season, according to On3 Sports, whose recruiting prediction machine currently gives the Longhorns a nearly 44 percent chance to land the quarterback.

But there are several other blue-chip schools in the mix for the player, too. Scroll through to see exactly where Manning is trending so far.

Eric Nahlin, one of the recruiting predictors, went as far as to give Texas a 70 percent chance to sign Manning in the 2023 cycle.

Arch Manning to visit Texas again

The quarterback is slated to go back to Austin on an official visit some time in late March. That, after he was on campus to see the Longhorns take on Oklahoma State last October.

Texas has some noteworthy advantages in the race to sign Manning. The quarterback himself has spoken very highly of head coach Steve Sarkisian, who in 2020 was the offensive coordinator for Alabama on its undefeated national championship run.

There's also been talk that Texas has been trying to hire David Cutcliffe in an off-field role. Cutcliffe was most recently head coach at Duke, but is known for his long-time association with the Manning family, serving as OC and QB coach at Tennessee in the mid-90s when Peyton Manning was quarterback for the Vols.

Georgia Bulldogs

Manning was on campus in Athens when Georgia hosted (and routed) South Carolina, and Bulldog fans certainly tried to make his feel at home.

Manning said he could see himself playing in Kirby Smart's offense, but will there be enough room for him after this season? Georgia has Gunner Stockton, Carson Beck, and Brock Vandagriff already on the roster.

Ole Miss Rebels

The connections here are only too easy to make. The name Manning is revered at Ole Miss, where Archie played quarterback in the late 60s and early 70s, and where Eli was the Rebels signal caller in the early 2000s.

But how will the loss of offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby impact the Rebs' chances? He built some solid connections with the Mannings on the recruiting trail, but up and left for the same gig at Oklahoma this offseason.

Alabama Crimson Tide

What quarterback doesn't want to play for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide? You're virtually guaranteed a spot in the College Football Playoff and are in the national championship race every season.

Bryce Young should be entering the NFL Draft after the 2022 season, opening up what would be a competition between Arch Manning and 5-star 2022 signee Ty Simpson.

As a junior at Isidore Newman in New Orleans, Manning threw for 1,947 yards and 26 touchdowns to four interceptions with another seven rushing scores.

In his high school career, he’s thrown for 6,307 yards as a starter in three seasons with 81 touchdowns passing and 19 rushing. He averages almost 13 yards per pass, over 212 passing yards per game, and has 18 career interceptions.

Manning is the consensus No. 1 quarterback in the 2023 college football recruiting class.
