Analysts didn't give New Mexico State much of a chance in 2022, with the ESPN computer index predicting it would be the worst team in college football.

And while it wasn't the best, it certainly wasn't the worst, either, and head coach Jerry Kill made good on a promise to his team after it played so well.

Kill revealed he got a massive tattoo celebrating the team, coming through on the pledge he made to his players before their bowl game in December.

Kill got the tattoo at a local parlor and said that he made the pledge to his players in order to inspire them to a strong finish.

"They were kind of dragging a bit, so I called them all up and said, 'Here is the deal: if you win this bowl game, I respect this team so much and what you've done, I'll get a tattoo on my arm,'" Kill told KTSM.

"They all just went crazy."

With that promise in hand, the Aggies went on to win the Quick Lane Bowl, defeating Bowling Green, 24-19, and finishing with a 7-6 record on the year.

Quite a turnaround from the 2-10 mark New Mexico State had in the 2021 season and played in all of one bowl game since 1960.
