It looks like we can add another day of college football to the weekly schedule when the 2024 season kicks off this fall, as Fox Sports will broadcast a game every Friday night, according to a report from The Athletic.

Those games will include matchups featuring teams from the Big Ten, the Big 12, and the Mountain West, and are not expected to interfere with the "Big Noon Kickoff" schedule on the Fox network every Saturday, according to the reporting.

Fox has shown Friday Night Smackdown at that time since 2019, but with that weekly WWE show moving the USA Network in October, the network believes it will secure far higher ratings and viewership by showing a college football game instead.

By adding the college football to its Friday schedule, Fox hopes to build a larger viewer base leading into its Saturday college football and its traditional NFL Sunday games.

Friday games aren't unheard of to college football fans, but this decision would mark the first time that we see games on that day of the week on a regular basis. And it should be put football on TVs across America just about every day of the week.

Football fans already have games to watch on Saturday and Sunday for college football and NFL, respectively, and pro football airs matchups on Thursday and Monday night, as well. Tuesday and Wednesday also finds several MAC games on the college football schedule this coming fall.

The official Friday schedule should be finalized at some point in May.
