Joe Burrow says he was almost arrested at the College Football Playoff

Joe Burrow was the king of college football in 2019, going undefeated, winning the Heisman Trophy, and then the national title.

And then he almost got arrested.

After LSU won the title, Burrow and other players famously smoked cigars in and around the locker room. That's when the cops got involved. Almost.

"We were gonna smoke all the cigars in the locker room. And we started smoking them and the cops come in because I guess you're not allowed to smoke inside or whatever," Burrow said.

"They started trying to arrest people in the locker room after we won the national title. We're like, 'What's going on? Come on.' This was in Louisiana. We played in New Orleans for the national title. They were trying to arrest us."

It wouldn't have been the best ending to an otherwise magical night, but thankfully the police decided against locking up Burrow and the LSU football team.

Burrow had just thrown for 463 yards in the national championship game victory over Clemson, capping off a 15-0 season behind a record-breaking offense.

Just two years later, Burrow was in the Super Bowl with the Cincinnati Bengals. If he gets his hands on the Lombardi Trophy, it's a safe bet he'll be lighting up another cigar, whatever stadium he's in.
