Nebraska landed another important addition in the college football transfer portal as former Alabama safety Kaine Williams pledged to the Cornhuskers.

Williams spent his freshman season at Alabama, but didn't get any playing time with the Crimson Tide during their SEC championship run.

A former 4-star recruit from the 2021 college football recruiting class, Williams ranked as the No. 7 overall player in Louisiana and the No. 11 overall safety prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite.

This has been an active offseason for Nebraska and head coach Scott Frost.

Frost is yet to record a winning season in four years at his alma mater and the Cornhuskers are coming off a nine-loss season, each loss coming by single digits.

But the school gave Frost another chance to right the ship and he spent the offseason aggressively improving his coaching staff and roster.

Nebraska signed former Texas quarterback Casey Thompson, who led the Big 12 in touchdown passes, landed Arizona State cornerback Tommi Hill, former UNI corner Omar Brown, and star TCU defensive lineman Ochaun Mathis.
