Former All-Star and Current Free Agent Has Chance to Make Baseball History in 2024

Former All-Star Daniel Vogelbach doesn't have a team just yet, but he has a chance to make baseball history in 2024.

Former Seattle Mariners All-Star and former New York Mets designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach has a chance to make some fun baseball history during the 2024 season.

Per Danny Vietti of CBS Sports:

Daniel Vogelbach has a chance to make history this upcoming season.

Most games played with 0 stolen base attempts in the Integration Era (since 1950):

1. Javier Valentin: 631 games

2. Johnny Estrada: 612 games

3. Daniel Vogelbach: 571 games

So if Vogelbach plays 61 games this season without attempting a stolen base, he'll set the record. He's currently a free agent so we have to get him a job so we can see that kind of history.

Vogelbach, 31, has spent parts of eight years in the big leagues with the Mariners, Blue Jays, Brewers, Pirates and Mets.

His best year was 2019, when he made the All-Star team for Seattle. That year, he hit 30 homers and drove in 76. He played 144 games that season, which is the high-water mark of his career.

He was let go by Seattle during the COVID 2020 season after just 18 games before latching on with Toronto. He played 104 games for the Mets this past season, hitting 13 homers and bringing in 48.

As free agency continues on, Vogelbach should have a market. He may need to sign a minor league contract with an invite to spring training but someone who can hit for power will have value as a designated hitter and/or a pinch-hitter.

Spring training begins about five weeks from now so there's still time.
