Los Angeles Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was magical on Thursday afternoon against the Cincinnati Reds.

After the Reds stole the first two games in the series thanks to heroics from the history-making Elly De La Cruz and the history-making Will Benson, Kershaw made some history of his own.

He tossed seven scoreless innings in the Queen City, surrendering just five hits, two walks and by recording nine strikeouts.

By doing that, he joined an elite list in team history. Sarah Langs of MLB.com has more on Twitter:

IF HE'S DONE FOR THE DAY: most scoreless starts of 7+ IP, Dodgers since 1900:

Clayton Kershaw: 63

Don Sutton: 63

Don Drysdale: 53

Kershaw was done at the end of seven innings and Taylor Scott replaced him on the mound. At the time of this posting, the Dodgers lead the Reds, 6-0, in the bottom of the eighth.

If Kershaw ends up with the win in this one, he'll move to 8-4 on the year with a 2.95 ERA. He's struck out 93 in 76.1 innings. The 35-year-old has battled health issues over the last few years, but he's continued to be successful.

One of the best pitchers of his generation, Kershaw is a lifetime 204-91 with a 2.50 ERA (entering Thursday).

He's been named an All-Star in nine different seasons and has won five ERA titles. He's also got a Gold Glove, a World Series ring and has won three Cy Young Awards. He's added an MVP Award as well.

The Dodgers would move to 36-27 with a win while Cincy would fall to 29-34 with a loss.
