The Atlanta Braves swept the division-rival New York Mets on Thursday night, winning a crazy game by the score of 13-10.

Ozzie Albies hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to finish off the sweep in a game that made history for both teams.

First, for the Mets, who have lost six straight games and seven of their last 10. Per SNY:

For the first time in the history of the Mets franchise, they have lost 3 consecutive games in which they've held a 3-run lead in each game

It's been a very disappointing year for the Mets, who envisioned a World Series appearance when they signed Justin Verlander this offseason. Instead, the team is 30-33 and 8.5 games out of first place in the National League East. As for Verlander, he started this game and gave up four earned runs over just three innings, walking four.

The win for the Braves also made some team history as well -- and continued their momentum.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

this is the 1st time since 1900 the Braves have won 3 straight games after being down 3+ runs in each

pre-1900, they won 3 straight such decisions 3 times:

5/26-30, 1894

8/19-23, 1893

8/3-7, 1876

The Braves have now won five straight games and seven of their last 10 and have moved to 38-24 on the season. These wins have been important because the Marlins have won six straight as well, but remain stuck at 3.5 games out.

The Mets will take on the Pirates this weekend and the Braves will battle the Nationals, in Atlanta.
