New York Yankees Suffer Rare Loss When Both Judge and Stanton Homer

The New York Yankees are now 30-4 lifetime when both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run in the same game.

The New York Yankees lost to the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon by a score of 6-5.

The loss was the Yankees 10th loss in their last 11 games and means they dropped the series to the last-place Nationals.

The Yankees bullpen did them in in this one, surrendering four runs in the seventh inning and one in the ninth in the defeat.

This loss also marked a rarity in Yankees history, per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

the Yankees are now 30-4, including playoffs, when Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge homer in the same game

the 4 losses:

- Field of Dreams game

- Oct 4 2nd game of DH when Judge hit 62

- 4/14/23

- 8/24/23

For a Yankees team starved for offense this season, it's hard to stomach losing when both of your offensive sluggers go deep, but it's been that kind of stretch for New York, who is now 10.0 games back in the American League wild card chase.

Judge is now hitting .278 with 28 home runs and 55 RBI. His home run numbers are still excellent but his overall numbers are hampered by him missing nearly two months with injury this year.

Stanton has also missed time with injury but has been less productive this season. He's hitting just .204 with 19 homers and 47 RBI. Lifetime, he's a .261 hitter.

The Yankees will travel to Tampa Bay on Friday for a weekend series with the Rays. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. ET.
