If you're a Phillies fan, I'm not really sure how you feel about this.

On the plus side, Kyle Schwarber exhibited a lot of power in the month of May.

On the down side, Kyle Schwarber didn't hit for any average in the month of May.

In fact, his month was so odd, that what he accomplished hadn't been done in 15 years. Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Kyle Schwarber recorded 10 hits in May, 7 of them being a HR.

He becomes the 7th player in MLB history and the 1st since Cody Ross in 2008 to have 70% or more of their hits coming via HR in a calendar month (min. 10 hits)

Schwarber hit just .115 over 26 games in May. He also posted 34 strikeouts and one double.

He was signed to a four-year, $79 million contract before the 2022 season and helped the Phillies reach the World Series last year, but clearly has struggled to gain traction this season.

For the season, he's hitting .163 with 13 homers. For fantasy baseball players, the home runs have been nice, but everything else has been a crusher.

Schwarber made his major league debut in 2015 with the Cubs and has played for the Cubs, the Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox and the Phillies. He helped the Cubs win the 2016 World Series, is a two-time All-Star selection, and led the league in home runs a year ago with 46.

It's not just Schwarber, because the Phillies as a whole are struggling this season. On the heels of the World Series berth last year, they are 25-30 and in fourth place in the National League East. They trail the first-place Braves by 7.5 games.

The Phillies will take on the Mets Thursday at 1:10 p.m. ET. All-Star pitcher Max Scherzer is pitching for New York, which is a minus-190 favorite according to the FanDuel gambling website.
