What started out as another anemic offensive performance from the Seattle Mariners turned into a historic victory as the Mariners beat the Houston Astros, 7-5.

The win moved the Mariners to 16-17 on the year while the Astros dropped to 17-16.

The listless Mariners offense was silent for the first 7.2 innings against starter JP France and the Astros bullpen, but then exploded for seven runs with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.

The Mariners made history in that inning, as @OptaSTATS on Twitter noted:

"The @Mariners are the only MLB team in the modern era to score 7+ runs in a game with all of them coming after having 2 outs and nobody on in their final turn at-bat."

With two outs and nobody on against Rafael Montero, Eugenio Suarez drew a walk and Cal Raleigh and Teoscar Hernandez registered back-to-back infield singles.

That set the stage for JP Crawford to tie the game with a bases-clearing double. Pinch-hitter Taylor Trammell then drew a walk and Montero was replaced by Ryne Stanek.

Jose Caballero doubled to bring home both runners and give the Mariners a 5-3 lead before Julio Rodriguez and Jarred Kelenic delivered RBI singles as well.

The inning finally ended on a Suarez groundout.

The Astros scored two runs in the top of the ninth off of closer Paul Sewald to reach the final score of 7-5.

The two teams will wrap up the series at T-Mobile Park on Sunday. First pitch is schedule for 4:10 p.m. ET.
