Texas Rangers' Rookie Continues to Make History in First Postseason

Texas Rangers' rookie Evan Carter continues to dominate at the plate in his first Major League postseason.

Texas Rangers' rookie Evan Carter continues to make history at the plate in his first Major League postseason.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

at 21 years & 39 days old, Evan Carter is the 2nd-youngest player in postseason history to reach base safely 9+ times in a 3-game span, older than only:

1924 Freddie Lindstrom: 18 y, 320 d (10 times)

he’s the youngest to reach 9+ times in his FIRST 3 postseason games

At the time of this posting, the Rangers lead the Orioles 3-2 in the sixth inning of Game 1 of the American League Division Series. Carter is 1-for-1 with a double and two walks.

Furthermore, from Jared Sandler of the Rangers' broadcast team:

Per Rangers PR, Evan Carter is the first player in MLB history to have an extra-base hit, walk, and run scored in each of his first 3 career postseason games.

Carter was called up for the team's playoff run and immediately made his mark, hitting five home runs and bringing in 12 runs in just 62 at-bats.

Because he hasn't played enough games yet to lose his prospect eligibility, he is still the No. 1 prospect in the organization, per MLB.com.

The following comes from his MLB.com prospect profile:

The Rangers' 2022 Minor League player of the year, Carter stands out most for his advanced approach at the plate, where he recognizes pitches and controls the strike zone well beyond his years and uses the entire field. He makes consistent contact with a clean left-handed swing, and his bat speed and the leverage in his lanky 6-foot-2 frame should lead to at least average power once he adds some needed strength and pulls pitches more frequently. He completes his offensive package with plus speed and the savvy to use it well on the bases.

Game 2 of the series comes up on Sunday afternoon at 4:07 p.m. ET.
