The Los Angeles Angels, fighting to make the playoffs for the first time since 2014, have now lost two games in a row and have dropped to 45-43 overall.

After losing to the San Diego Padres on Tuesday, 5-3, the Halos are now seven games back in the American League West and four games back in the wild card race.

As the Angels fight to get momentum back, it's going to be even tougher considering the team has been ravaged by injury over the last two days.

This stat from ESPN Stats & Info says it all:

Since the top of the 8th inning yesterday, the Angels have seen 44% of their 40-man payroll leave the game with injuries.

Mike Trout: $35.5M

Anthony Rendon: $35M

Shohei Ohtani: $30M

All the players the Angels have built around are now dealing with something. Trout suffered a broken hamate bone while Rendon fouled a ball off his leg and Ohtani left with a blister.

Trout is going to miss anywhere from 6-8 weeks while Ohtani may just miss one start. X-Rays came back negative on Rendon. Shortstop Zack Neto has also been out recently, further complicating things for the team, and Gio Urshela is out for the season.

The Angels will take on the Padres again on Wednesday night in San Diego as Patrick Sandoval (4-7, 4.57 ERA) pitches against Seth Lugo (3-4, 3.59 ERA).

First pitch is slated for 8:40 p.m. ET.

The Angels will then be off Thursday before closing out the first half with a series against the Dodgers.
