Colorado Rockies outfielder Brenton Doyle made an unreal throw on Tuesday night to nab Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo at the plate.

The throw, which was registered at more than 99 mph from centerfield, was among the fastest throws by a Rockies outfielder in the statcast era (since 2015). And in a weird and bizarre irony, Sox player Justin Turner became linked to all the history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

Brenton Doyle!

99.2 mph OF assist

- 2nd-fastest tracked OF assist in MLB this year

- 2nd-fastest tracked OF assist by COL under Statcast (2015)

only faster for COL: 6/28/22 Connor Joe, 99.3 mph

the batter both today + Joe’s? Justin Turner!

Talk about a whole lot of intertangled webs in that one!

First off, the throw from Doyle was incredible. The ball by Turner was well struck to centerfield and allowed one run to score. Doyle's throw went just up the third base line but catcher Elias Diaz made a nice adjustment to field it and tag Verdugo, who did not slide.

The 25-year-old Doyle was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 draft by the Rockies and made his debut this past April 24.

In addition to the good defense, he's hitting .218 with four home runs 17 RBI. He's added eight stolen bases.

At the time of this posting, the Rockies and Red Sox are tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning.

If Colorado can turn this into a win, they will have taken the series at Fenway Park after winning in extra innings on Monday.
