In this story:
The popular and iconic MLB The Show video game franchise is making another major addition in 2024.
After integrating the Negro Leagues into the 2023 version of the game, the 2024 version will include the ability for gamers to create and play as female players. This is the first time that this has been available.
The revelation was made on social media on Tuesday and you can watch the trailer below:

It appears that the feature is only a part of the "Road to the Show" mode and is not part of the franchise mode. Regardless, the inclusion of female ballplayers was lauded by tennis champion and women's rights activist Billie Jean King, who posted on "X:"
For the first time ever, the @MLBTheShow video game will include women baseball players.

From the creators of the game, San Diego Studios:
For the first time, you can create and play as a woman ballplayer, with a unique Road to the Show story that evolves with the player over the course of your career. Experience a personalized story where players can interact and build their baseball careers. This path will include all existing features of Road to the Show with the addition of a unique-to-women storyline following a lifelong friendship as it develops in professional baseball.
The game is available on March 19, which is one day before the MLB season kicks off. The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres will be playing in Korea on March 20-21 as part of the "Korea Series."
