Oakland Athletics fans are hosting a "reverse boycott" night at the ballpark on June 13th when the A's host the Tampa Bay Rays.

The reason? The fans want to show major league baseball, the Bay Area, anyone who will listen that they aren't the problem.

The A's are currently 3-13 this season and in last place in the American League West. The team is in a constant battle over trying to secure a new ballpark in the Bay Area and is under constant threat to relocate. Whenever you hear Montreal, Charlotte, Las Vegas or Nashville brought up as possible MLB cities for relocation, the A's are the first team to be brought up.

The fans are trying to send the message that they would support the franchise if they were given a winner and an ownership that was invested in winning.

Instead, the A's have traded away Sean Murphy, Matt Olson, Chris Bassitt, Sean Manaea, Sonny Gray and Matt Chapman in recent years.

And that's really too bad for Oakland fans, because it's a proud fanbase with a lot of history. The A's franchise won the World Series in 1910, 1911, 1913, 1929, 1930, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989.

The Athletics also most recently won the American League West in 2020. They also made the playoffs three straight years between 2018-2020.

Oakland is off today but will open up a series in Oakland against the Cubs on Tuesday.

First pitch is scheduled for 9:40 p.m. ET as Marcus Stroman pitches against Ken Waldichuk.
