Bryce Harper Made Zany Baseball History in Three-Homer Game on Tuesday

The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night as superstar Bryce Harper teed off on Reds' pitching. The former MVP hit three homers in the win and reached a historic milestone in the process.

Philadelphia Phillies' star Bryce Harper hit three home runs on Tuesday night as the Phillies downed the Cincinnati Reds, 9-4, at Citizens Bank Park.

Harper went 3-for-4 with six RBI and three runs scored in the win, raising his early season average to .200 with an OPS of 1.094.

Furthermore, Harper hit a statisical milestone in the win, scoring his 1,000th career run. That milestone was also a part of some zany baseball history, according to @OptaStats on social media:

Bryce Harper of the @Phillies is the first MLB player in the Modern Era to record his 1000th career run while having at least three HR in the same game.

That's a rather narrow field, but history nonetheless! One of the best players of his generation, Harper is a seven-time All-Star, a three-time Silver Slugger, a two-time MVP, a Rookie of the Year and a Home Run Derby champion.

He made his Major League debut in 2012 with the Washington Nationals at the age of 19 and is now in his sixth year with the Philadelphia Phillies. He helped lead the Phillies to the 2022 National League pennant and led the National League in home runs with 42 back in 2015. He's also led the majors in on-base percentage and slugging percentage in various seasons.

The Phillies are now 2-3 on the season and will take on the Reds again on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is set for 4:05 p.m. ET as Zack Wheeler (0-0, 0.00 ERA) pitches for the Phillies against Frankie Montas (1-0, 0.00 ERA).
