The Seattle Mariners beat the Cleveland Guardians on Opening Night, 3-0, behind great pitching and a Ty France three-run homer. The victory gave the M's a great start to the 2023 season but also gave an instant chance to get the answer to a very important question:

Would the Mariners bring back their famous 2022 victory dance? Or would they do something different in 2023?

The M's did bring back the victory dance, which took off last year during a 90-win season and run to the team's first playoff appearance since 2001. The dance got so famous that MLB The Show '23 put it in the video game this year.

The dance involves the infield and the pitcher-catcher dancing in a circle behind the mound while they wait for the outfielders to get into the party.

There had been some thought as to whether the team would bring it back this year since Carlos Santana started the dance and now is no longer on the team. But we're happy to see it return in 2023.

The M's got the Opening Night win behind six scoreless innings on the mound from Luis Castillo, one scoreless inning from Matt Brash, one scoreless inning from Paul Sewald and another scoreless inning from Andres Munoz, who recorded his first save.

France broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning with a three-run homer off of Guardians reliever James Karinchak.

The two teams will play Friday at 10:10 p.m. ET.
