Toronto Blue Jays star Bo Bichette made some team history on Friday night, becoming the fastest Blue Jay to reach 500 career hits.

He got his 500th career hit in just 407 games, which surpassed former outfielders Vernon Wells and Shannon Stewart, who both got their 500th hits in 432 games.

The hit came in the bottom of the second inning off of Rays starter Drew Rasmussen. It was a ground-rule double that brought in a run for Toronto.

You can watch the base hit below:

Bichette, 25, is among the top young players in all of baseball. He was a second-round draft pick in 2016 by the Blue Jays and made his debut in 2019. He's played 159 games in each of the last two seasons and helped the Blue Jays make the playoffs in both the 2020 and 2022 seasons.

He's a career .300 hitter with 73 home runs and 249 RBIs. He's added 46 career steals.

Vernon Wells was a fantastic player in his own right. He played 15 years in the majors with the Jays, Angels and Yankees. He spent 12 years in Toronto and hit 223 home runs for the Jays.

As for Stewart, he played 14 years in the majors with Toronto, Minnesota and Oakland. He spent 10 years with the Jays, hitting 74 homers in their uniform and knocking in 370 while stealing 166 bases.

At the time of this posting, the Jays lead the Rays, 6-3, and are on the verge of snapping Tampa's 13-game winning streak. Bichette is 5-5 in this game.

The only bad news out of the night is that Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios left with injury
