Chris Weidman Refutes UFC Doctor's Injury Claims Post-UFC 292

Weidman dismisses claims made about his leg.

Chris Weidman says claims surrounding the damage done to his legs at UFC 292 are being overblown.

Weidman recently returned to the Octagon after being away from pro MMA competition for two years. He took on Brad Tavares in the featured preliminary bout on the UFC 292 card. The former UFC Middleweight Champion was on the receiving end of some brutal leg kicks from Tavares. While Weidman showed heart, he lost the fight via unanimous decision.

After the fight, UFC President Dana White urged Chris Weidman to retire. White said he heard that the "All-American" tore ligaments in his leg. This claim has now been refuted by the former middleweight kingpin.

Weidman took to his "Won't Back Down" podcast to clear the air on whether or not he has ligament damage.

"I got MRIs done on my tibia and fibula on both legs," Weidman said. "Got MRIs on both my knees, X-rays. I've been waiting for results and I got the results back. There was a lot of speculation through the UFC. The doctor from the UFC told Dana White right away that I tore my ACL and my LCL. I was always like, 'I don't know where they're getting that from,' because right after the fight they didn't move my leg around, they didn't test anything. My legs were super swollen, so we got ice on them and that was it. So, I don't know where they were getting that from, but I didn't think my ligaments were torn, and guess what? Who was right? I was right. There was no ligament tears at all."

Weidman admitted he does have a fracture in his left leg. The "All-American" said his recovery time should only be four weeks.
