Huge WWE Superstar Makes Shocking Return To Company During Episode Of NXT

An unexpected WWE return.

Fans have been caught off guard by the return of one WWE superstar.

For weeks, WWE had been teasing what appeared to be a debut on the NXT brand. In video packages hyping up the talent's arrival, the promise of the "truth" prevailing was made. Many had speculated who the mystery person would be. With free agency being red hot in wrestling, it could've been a slew of performers.

With that said, very few could've expected the reveal during the February 27th episode of WWE NXT.

During a promo cut by Ridge Holland, the returning Tye Dillinger nailed the former Brawling Brutes member in the back with a steel chair. The "Perfect 10" is back on the NXT brand after spending some time as "The Chairman" Shawn Spears in AEW.

The NXT commentary team referred to Tye as "Shawn Spears."

Spears had two prior runs with WWE. He signed with their developmental system in 2006 and later on performed for the ECW brand. He was released in early 2009 before making his return in 2013.

Shawn had become a fan favorite on the NXT brand during his second run with the company. He got a crack at the main roster outside of ECW during his second stint with the promotion, but requested his release in 2019.

He made his way to AEW, where he had a notable feud with "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes. He also served as MJF's right-hand man. Following his split from MJF, however, Spears didn't have much of a role on AEW TV before making his exit.

Now that Spears is back in WWE, one has to wonder what his business is with Ridge Holland.
