UFC Rival Scoffs at Colby Covington's Injury Claims: 'We Saw This Guy Walking Everywhere'

Gilbert Burns doesn't believe that Colby Covington's claims of a foot injury at UFC 296 are entirely true.
Covington claimed he broke his foot in the opening frames of his fight with Leon Edwards on December 17, 2023, providing an X-ray image as proof.
"I didn’t want to disclose this information until I had the X-rays back home," Covington told Submission Radio. "I knew straight away it was bad. It was the first kick I threw, it landed right on his elbow."
In a recent interview, Burns remarked that he and his team had seen Covington "walking everywhere" at the time, despite the alleged broken foot:
"I saw him walking everywhere," Burns told
The All Star
. "I don't see his name on the x-ray. We saw this guy walking everywhere in Miami, playing poker, going everywhere. I didn't see no cast.
"It's very hard to believe anything Colby says," Burns concluded.
Although Burns' take is purely anecdotal, Covington's name can be seen on the x-ray he provided:
Burns and Covington are ranked #4 and #5 respectively in the welterweight division. This could be the beginning of a budding feud between the two grapplers, and given their star power, it would make for a popular fight.
