Detroit Pistons Sign 15-Year NBA Veteran

The Detroit Pistons have signed Taj Gibson.

Taj Gibson has played in 16 games for the New York Knicks this season.  

The veteran forward has averages of 1.0 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 30.4% from the field.    

On Wednesday, the Detroit Pistons announced that they had signed Gibson to a 10-day contract.   

Via Detroit Pistons PR: "The @DetroitPistons announced today that the team has signed forward/center Taj Gibson to a 10-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed."

Gibson was the 26th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft out of USC and is in his 15th season in the league.  

In addition to the Knicks, he has also spent time with the Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves, Washington Wizards and Oklahoma City Thunder. 

His career averages are 8.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per contest while shooting 51.7% from the field and 25.9% from the three-point range in 961 regular season games. 

He has also appeared in 71 NBA playoff games (20 starts) and was with the Bulls when they reached the 2011 Eastern Conference Finals. 

As for the Pistons, they have had an extremely disappointing season and are currently the 15th seed in the Eastern Conference with a 9-52 record in 61 games. 

They have gone 1-9 over their last ten games and are also in the middle of a three-game losing streak. 

The Pistons lost to the Miami Heat (118-110) on Tuesday and will play their next game on Thursday evening when they host Mikal Bridges and the Brooklyn Nets in Michigan.
