BREAKING: Cleveland Cavaliers Reportedly Make Addition To Coaching Staff

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Dave Joerger will join the Cleveland Cavaliers as a coaching consultant.

On Wednesday evening, the Cleveland Cavaliers will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season when they visit Mikal Bridges and the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center in New York.

J.B. Bickerstaff has been the head coach of the Cavs over the previous four seasons, and on Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that Dave Joerger will join the staff as a coaching consultant.

Via Charania: "Sources: Former Grizzlies and Kings coach Dave Joerger has agreed to join the Cleveland Cavaliers as a coaching consultant. Joerger has been coaching in NBA for last 17 years. He will also serve as the coach of Team USA in FIBA AmeriCup Qualifying games in Feb. 2024."

Joerger was a head coach for the Sacramento Kings and Memphis Grizzlies and has a 492-295 record over six seasons.

He has spent the previous three years as an assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Cavs are coming off an impressive season where they were the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 51-31 record.

They made the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2018 season (when LeBron James was still on the roster) but lost to Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks in the first round (in five games).

Despite the disappointing finish in the postseason, the Cavs are led by All-Star Donovan Mitchell and will be seen once again as contenders to be a top-four seed in the east.

In addition to Michell, they also have Jarrett Allen, Evan Mobley and Darius Garland, who are fantastic young players.
