Kevin Durant Made NBA History In Thunder-Suns Game

Kevin Durant made NBA history during Sunday's game.

On Sunday evening, the Phoenix Suns are playing the Oklahoma City Thunder (at home in Arizona).   

During the game, 2014 MVP Kevin Durant made NBA history by moving ahead of Joe Johnson (1,978) for sole possession of 18th on the all-time three-pointers list

Following Johnson, the next player for him to pass will be Dirk Nowitzki (1,982).  

Durant entered the matchup with averages of 27.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.3 blocks per contest while shooting 53.0% from the field and 42.0% from the three-point range in 53 games. 

The Suns are the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 35-25 record in 60 games. 

They are 6-4 over their last ten games and most recently lost to the Houston Rockets by a score of 118-109.

Durant had 30 points, nine rebounds, two assists and three blocks while shooting 12/19 from the field and 1/4 from the three-point range in 39 minutes of playing time. 

Following the Thunder, the Suns will play their next game on Tuesday evening when they visit Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in Colorado. 

Durant was the second pick in the 2007 NBA Draft out of Texas and is in his 16th season playing in the league. 

In addition to the Suns, Durant has also spent time with the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder. 

His career averages are 27.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 50.0% from the field and 38.7% from the three-point range.
