BREAKING: Phoenix Suns Release 2-Year NBA Player

According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Phoenix Suns have waived Ish Wainright.

Ish Wainright is coming off a year where he appeared in 60 regular season games for the Phoenix Suns.

The former Baylor star averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 37.0% from the field and 32.9% from the three-point range.

On Thursday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Suns have waived Wainright.

Via Scotto: "The Phoenix Suns have waived forward Ishmail Wainright, league sources told @hoopshype. Wainright has appeared in 105 games for the Suns over the past two seasons."

Wainright has been in the NBA for two seasons (all with the Suns) and has career averages of 3.4 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 37.8% from the field and 32.8% from the three-point range in 105 regular season games.

He has also appeared in 13 NBA playoff games.

The Suns are coming off a season where they were the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 45-37 record.

They beat the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the NBA playoffs (in five games) but lost to the Denver Nuggets in the second round (in six games).

After a ten-year playoff drought, the Suns have been to the postseason in three straight seasons (and made the NBA Finals in 2021).

The Suns will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season on October 24 when they visit the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

They have one of the best rosters in the league with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
