Chet Holmgren Made OKC Thunder History Against Spurs

Chet Holmgren made Oklahoma City Thunder history during Thursday's game.

UPDATE: The Thunder lost by a score of 132-118, and Chet Holmgren finished with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists and one block.  

On Thursday evening, the Oklahoma City Thunder are playing the San Antonio Spurs in Texas.  

During the game, star rookie Chet Holmgren made exciting team history.  

Via Royce Young: "Chet Holmgren is the fastest Thunder player to reach 1,000 career points (59 games). Russell Westbrook did it in 64 games."

Holmgren has had an incredible start to his NBA career, as he is already one of the best players in the league.  

The former Gonzaga star is averaging 17.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 blocks per contest while shooting 54.2% from the field and 40.1% from the three-point range in 58 games. 

The Thunder are also one of the best teams in the NBA. 

They came into Thursday's matchup with a 41-17 record in 58 games, which has them as the second seed in the Western Conference (a half-game behind the Minnesota Timberwolves). 

Over the last ten games, they are 8-2, and they are also in the middle of a six-game winning streak.  

Following the Spurs, the Thunder will travel to Arizona for a showdown with Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns on Sunday evening.

On the road, they have gone 17-11 in 28 games away from Oklahoma City. 

As for the Spurs, they are the 15th seed in the Western Conference with an 11-48 record in 59 games. 

They are in the middle of a five-game losing streak and are 1-9 over their last ten games. 

Following the Thunder, the Spurs will host the Indiana Pacers on Sunday evening.
