On Saturday afternoon, Shohei Ohtani announced in an Instagram post that he would be joining the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ohtani is one of the greatest players of all time, so the news had been highly anticipated since he entered free agency.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the contract is for ten years, $700 million.

Passan also reported that it's the biggest guarantee in the history of sports.

Many people were reacting to the news on social media, and NBA All-Star Donovan Mitchell sent out a post on X.

Via Mitchell: "700M’s is crazy!! And he deserves every Penny of that too! Sheesh ‼️ ‼️"

Ohtani had spent the previous six seasons playing for the Los Angeles Angels.

He is coming off a year where he made his third straight MLB All-Star Game and won his second MVP Award.

The 29-year-old had a .304 batting average and hit 44 home runs to go with 95 runs batted in.

In addition, Ohtani pitched in 23 games and had a 10-5 record with a 3.14 ERA.

As for Mitchell, he is in his seventh season in the NBA (second with the Cavs) and has made the All-Star Game in each of the previous four seasons.

Right now, the former Louisville star is averaging 27.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.9 steals per contest while shooting 45.5% from the field and 35.7% from the three-point range in 17 games.

The Cavs are 13-9 in their first 22 games, which has them as the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
