Golden State Warriors Officially Announce Blockbuster Trade

The Golden State Warriors officially announced their trade with the Washington Wizards.

On Thursday, the Golden State Warriors officially announced their blockbuster trade with the Washington Wizards.

As part of the deal, they will land future Hall of Famer Chris Paul, while 2022 NBA Champion Jordan Poole will head to the Wizards.

Via Warriors PR: "The Warriors have acquired 12-time NBA All-Star guard Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards in exchange for forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., guards Jordan Poole and Ryan Rollins, a 2027 second round draft pick and a 2030 first round draft pick (top 20 protected):"

Paul is one of the greatest point guards of all time.

At 38, he is still coming off a solid year where he averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.5 steals per contest while shooting 44.0% from the field and 37.5% from the three-point range in 59 regular season games for the Phoenix Suns.

Adding the 12-time NBA All-Star to the Warriors makes for a unique mix of players because he will now be teammates with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

As for the Wizards, they get draft picks and Ryan Rollins and Patrick Baldwin Jr. in addition to Poole.

While he had a disappointing postseason, Poole is a very talented guard who is coming off a regular season where he averaged 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 43.0% from the field (he played in every game).

He is only 24 years old, so the former Michigan star has the potential to develop into an All-Star.

Last year, the Warriors lost in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, while the Wizards missed the postseason for the second straight year.
