Memphis Grizzlies Release 2-Year NBA Player

The Memphis Grizzlies made several roster moves.

On Friday evening, the Memphis Grizzlies lost to the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 101-95.

Two-way player Jacob Gilyard did not play in the game, and on Saturday, the Grizzlies announced that they had waived him.

Via Grizzlies PR: "The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team signed guard Jordan Goodwin to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. In a related move, the Grizzlies waived guard Jacob Gilyard."

Gilyard had averages of 4.7 points, 1.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.7% from the field and 42.5% from the three-point range in 37 games (14 starts).

Two-way players can only be active for 50 regular season games (h/t HoopsRumors).

As for Goodwin, he has played 42 games for the Suns and Grizzlies this season.

He is averaging 5.2 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 39.4% from the field and 29.4% from the three-point range.

The Grizzlies have had a tough season and are the 13th seed in the Western Conference with a 20-37 record in 57 games.

They are 2-8 over their last ten games.

Following the Clippers, the Grizzlies will remain at home to host Mikal Bridges and the Brooklyn Nets on Monday evening in Tennessee.

On the road, they have gone 13-16 in 29 games, while they are 7-21 in 28 games at home.

Last season, the Grizzlies lost to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
