New York Knicks Release 2021 NBA Champion

The New York Knicks have waived four players.

The NBA regular season will begin in less than a week, so teams have had to make roster cuts. 

On Saturday, the New York Knicks announced that they had waived four players. 

Via Knicks PR: "Knicks waive Mamadi Diakite, Brandon Goodwin, Isaiah Roby and Duane Washington Jr."

Diakite played 22 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, and he averaged 2.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per contest while shooting 48.0% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point range. 

In 2021, the 26-year-old won the NBA Championship as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.  

Washington Jr. is coming off a solid year where he played 31 regular season games for the Phoenix Suns. 

He averaged 7.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest while shooting 36.7% from the field and 36.0% from the three-point range. 

Roby spent this past year playing for the San Antonio Spurs.

In 42 games, he had averages of 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 43.2% from the field and 30.0% from the three-point range.

Lastly, Goodwin most recently played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season when he appeared in 36 games for the Cavs. 

He averaged 4.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest while shooting 41.6% from the field and 34.5% from the three-point range. 

The Knicks will play their first game of the 2023-24 regular season when they host Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 25.
