Nikola Jokic's Viral Quote About Joel Embiid After 76ers-Nuggets Game

Nikola Jokic spoke about Joel Embiid after Saturday's game.

On Saturday, the Denver Nuggets hosted the Philadelphia 76ers in Colorado.

The matchup had been highly anticipated due to the fact that Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid would face off for the second time this month.

However, Embiid, who was not on the injury report, was ruled out right before tip-off.

The game was close, but the Nuggets were able to win by a score of 111-105, and Jokic led the way with 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and two steals while shooting 8/16 from the field in 37 minutes of playing time.

After the game, the two-time MVP spoke to ESPN's Cassidy Hubbarth about Embiid.

Jokic: "If you're a basketball fan, or a soccer fan, or an NFL fan, the things that he's doing right now is historic and you need to appreciate that.. Whatever fan you are, I think you need to appreciate what he's doing."

After Jokic won back-to-back MVPs in 2021 and 2022, Embiid won last year's trophy.

The former Kansas star is in the middle of another fantastic season and is averaging 36.0 points, 11.4 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per contest while shooting 53.9% from the field and 36.8% from the three-point range in 33 games.

When Embiid and Jokic faced off (in Philadelphia on January 16), the 76ers won by a score of 126-121.

With the loss, the 76ers fell to 29-15 in their first 44 games, which has them as the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets improved to 32-15 in 47 games, which has them as the fourth seed in the Western Conference.
