Georgia National Wraps Up Weekend With Near $100,000 Payout

The Southeastern winter rodeo circuit continued with rodeos in Florida and Georgia, including the Georgia National Rodeo in Perry. This rodeo has been a member of the PRCA for over 30 years now and has become a high-paying rodeo, making it a vital stop for athletes on their tour through the Southeast.
Canyon Bass, a bull rider from Johnson City, Texas, left Perry the highest-paid contestant of the rodeo, winning $4,794 for his efforts. He rode Barnes PRCA Rodeo’s King Cornelias to an 87-point ride and held his lead from the first performance throughout the weekend. The 20-year-old talent landed himself inside the top 30 within the 2023 World Standings and looks to make even more headway with the new year.
Fast times were posted in the barrel racing as usual, and it was the Southeastern Circuit’s No. 1 barrel racer who reigned supreme. Kristin Hanchey of Okeechobee, Fla., posted a quick time of 14.65 seconds and was awarded a nice check for $2,673.
Waverly, Kan., talent Weston Patterson made the trip down south worth the miles, going 86 points on Barnes PRCA Rodeo’s Doug’s Wall. The College National Finalist by way of Clarendon College finished within the top 10 in the Resistol Rookie standings in 2023 and sits in the top 30 in the World for the 2024 season.
The Southeastern circuit will continue to have great rodeos in the coming weeks, stretching from Florida to Mississippi and anywhere in between. Rodeo competitors from all over make their way down south to escape the winter weather and compete at the best rodeos that the circuit has to offer.
These rodeos are a great chance for someone to stack up the earnings during the winter months if they didn't quite get into the "Texas Swing" rodeos. Although these contestants aren't in the headlines winning the major rodeos, they may be racking up the winnings in sunny Florida for an underdog advantage going into the summer run!
