Kimes Ranch Unleashes Breakaway Roping Event with Historic Million Dollar Purse

The inaugural Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway will take place Nov. 27-30 at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Ariz. An unprecedented million-dollar purse will be awarded during a 10-round competition featuring the top 10 breakaway ropers in the Women's Professional Rodeo Association World Standings and 15 qualifiers. Daily trade shows, nightly award ceremonies, and concerts on Friday and Saturday will complement this historic event.
“We know there has been a huge push to have the breakaway ropers on the big stage, roping for equal money under the bright lights. I believe that is still the ultimate goal for everyone, but until that happens, we at Kimes Ranch wanted to create an event that would provide the excitement, the recognition, and the purse that these breakaway athletes deserve,” says Amanda Kimes, Vice President of Kimes Ranch.
Josie Conner, a two-time Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping qualifier and Kimes Ranch endorsee, plans to compete in Scottsdale in November.
“Kimes Ranch took a chance on me, at 16 years old, before I even started my professional career. From day one, their vision and support for the Western industry was so clear to me. Today, they are taking what may be, one of the biggest steps in the improvement of women’s Breakaway roping. This monumental event will give Breakaway ropers a chance at a one million dollars, payout. Think about that for a second… an event, exclusively for female ropers, that will pay out over a million dollars. I am thankful to Kimes for giving us the opportunity to compete at this event and proud to be aligned with a company like this.”
WestWorld of Scottsdale, the venue for the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway, is a premier, internationally recognized equine event center located at the base of the McDowell Mountains, just 30 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. With its stunning location, Arizona's renowned winter weather, and the world's top breakaway ropers, the event promises an unforgettable five days of elite competition.
