This past weekend, March 8 and 9, the spotlight was on the tough athletes who compete in bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding. The stage was set in Columbia, S.C., where PRCA rough stock riders came to show off their skills and ride for a paycheck.

There's truth to Cinch World's Toughest's slogan, "World's Toughest Bulls and Broncs since 1979," because, with stock like this, it takes the fiercest cowboys.

In the bareback riding, Montana cowboy Sam Peterson took home the win with his 86-point ride on Silver Creek Pro Rodeo's Spur Soaker. This win, plus his second performance bonus, made Peterson's total for the weekend $4,433, ranking him at No. 14 in the World Standings for bareback riding.

Two points behind Peterson, with two 84-point rides, was a tie between Cole Franks and Gauge McBride, each receiving $2,288.

In the saddle bronc riding, 25-year-old Trent Burd took the win. He scored 81.5 points on Silver Creek Pro Rodeo's Strange Brew to win $3,630. Burd also received the second performance bonus on Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co's Mighty Moe, which earned him an additional $1,000.

Only a mere half-point behind Burd was Brady Hill, with an 81-point ride, earning him $2,783.

Over in the bull riding, it was two-time NFR qualifier Trey Holston who dominated. After an impressive ride on Harper & Morgan Rodeo Co's James Bond, Holston scored an entire three points ahead of second-place rider Jax Mills with an 89-point ride. Holston's first-place score earned him $4,015.
