San Antonio Rough Stock Semifinals: Here's Your Lineup

Five brackets have been completed, and 50 cowboys have given it their best shot, with the hopes of advancing into the semifinals at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. Being one of the biggest winter tour rodeos, the opportunity San Antonio provides can make a man's year. Here are the cowboys to watch in the next two rounds of competition.
Bareback Riding
As with all of the events, the semifinals in the bareback riding will be great watching. The competitors that have made their way through the bracket system will be working toward being in the top five of each performance in order to advance to the finals. You should witness a mini Wrangler National Finals quality bareback riding in both performances of the semifinals.
The top finishers for each bracket were Kade Sonnier, Jess Pope, Garrett Shadbolt, Rocker Steiner, and Clayton Biglow. With veterans and young stars both qualified, it will be a battle to the end.
Saddle Bronc Riding
The saddle bronc riding has already brought high scores to the board, like Dawson Hay's 90-point ride on Andrews Rodeo's All or Nothing in the third round of Bracket 3 and Lefty Holman's 87.5-point ride in the third round of Bracket 5 aboard J Bar J Rodeo's Shady Jacket.
With qualifiers like Statler Wright, Zeke Thurston, Sage Newman, Lefty Holman, Sterling Crawley, and Ryder Sanford, the saddle bronc riding will be stellar and will come down to who draws the best horse of the night.
Look for high 80s and even a few 90-point rides in the semifinals. Each 8-second ride will require these men to be at their best to move on to the final round of competition.
Bull Riding
So far, the stock has been outstanding in the bull riding, so much so that there have been a few rounds with only one qualified ride.
Round three of Bracket 3 brought that exact situation when Jake Gardner rode Andrews Rodeo's Twizzler for 83 points. Cooper James was the strong man in round three of Bracket 4 when he was the only one to ride. It was Frontier Rodeo's Bad John that couldn't shake the cowboy.
Jordan Hansen and Cervi Brothers' Keep Talkin cracked the gates in the first round of Bracket 5 and battled the full 8 seconds to be the only pair to complete the dance.
Every time that scenario occurs, the cowboy pockets $7,000 in prize money and guarantees their spot in the semifinals.
The bull riding will rank among the best of the year with bull riding superstars like Clayton Sellars, T Parker, Cody Teel, and Roscoe Jarboe, among others will face off on some of the best bulls in the nation.
