Trey Holston won the bull riding title at the Cowboy Capital Of The World PRCA Rodeo in Stephenville, Texas, an event where there was only two qualified rides.

Holston posted an 88-point ride on Pete Carr Pro Rodeo's Time Warp and claimed $3,008 in winnings.

That’s a boost for Holston, who entered the event No. 5 in bull riding with $177,196.20 in winnings. The gap between him and the No. 15 spot was more than $50,000, so he should be in line for a berth in the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December. But every little bit helps.

He’s aiming for his second NFR qualification after finishing eight in Las Vegas last year. He added to his six titles so far this season, including the Ram Prairie Circuit Finals (Duncan, Okla.), the Cinch World's Toughest Rodeo (Des Moines, Iowa), the Nacogdoches (Texas) Pro Rodeo & Steer Show, the NFR Open (Colorado Springs, Colo.) the Range Days Rodeo (Rapid City, S.D.) and the Cinch World's Toughest Rodeo (co-champion, Greensboro, N.C.).

The only other qualified ride came from Trevor Reiste, who finished second with an 82-point ride and netted $2,562.

The money makes much more of a different to Reiste, who entered Stephenville No. 18 with $99,841.41 in winnings. He’s trying to work his way into NFR qualification and needs about $25,000 to catch Cullen Telfer.
