The first two rounds of competition have been completed at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. While it is every cowboy and cowgirl’s dream to come in ranked No. 1, with the record-breaking payouts each night, nearly every event has multiple contenders for the world championship.

Three cowboys have taken full advantage of the Sin City opportunity. Team ropers Clint Summers and Jake Long along with bareback rider Rocker Steiner have dominated their respective events.

Summers and Long won the first round with a 4.2-second run and then came back last night to tie the round two NFR record of 3.8 seconds.

“I felt like we had a great steer, even better than the first round. I got the start that I really wanted to get, roped the horns, and Jake did what he does best,” Summers recalled.

The cowboys are both veterans to the NFR with Summers having qualified in 2018 and 2021 along with Long being here an incredible 12 previous years.

Summers summed up the feelings of most contestants, “I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of roping in this building.”

Summers came to Las Vegas in the No. 13 position and has jumped all the way to No. 3 in the world standings. Long started at No. 10 and has vaulted to No. 2.

Weatherford, Texas super star Rocker Steiner has taken Vegas by storm. In the first round Steiner showcased his style to ride Stace Smith Pro Rodeos’ Risky Business for 87 points. In round two, Steiner made Sankey Pro Rodeo & Phenom Genetics proud by covering Mustard for 88.5 points.

Steiner is making his second consecutive appearance at the WNFR and it couldn’t have started any better.

Steiner’s controversial personality garners opinions from all sides, but no one can take away one ounce of his proven talent and work ethic. No one comes to the PRCA and makes their way to two consecutive go round wins at the WNFR without putting in the time and the effort. Steiner’s electric rides have jumped him from seventh in the standings to number two.

The NFR continues tonight at 5:45 p.m. CST from Las Vegas and can be viewed live on the Cowboy Channel.
