American Rope Horse Futurity Association World Championship: Recap & Results

The American Rope Horse Futurity Association World Championship is a prestigious event in the team roping world, drawing the best young horses from across the country to compete in various categories. From Open to Intermediate, Limited, and Non-Pro classes, many talented competitors come to prove their skills. This year’s World Championship was held at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth, Texas Oct. 18-21.

The scoring criteria for the World Championship involved two judges starting with a score of 70 and scoring each maneuver from -5 to +5. There were also penalties for certain actions, such as refusal to enter the box, rearing up, and running into the steer. Time was also a factor in scoring, with the total time being subtracted from 80. All scores are cumulative throughout the go rounds and the top 10 to 20 cumulative high scores went on to the short go.

Cade Rice, riding Sevens Star Glo owned by Marshall Weir, won the Open Heeling World Championship for the second year in a row. Sevens Star Glo, by CSR Dual Glo out of Sevens Tootsie Time, displayed remarkable consistency and skill, achieving a composite score of 938.89 on four head, earning the title and $30,000.

Tate Kirchenschlager won the Open Heading World Championship on A Painted Sunshine, owned by Riley Wheeler. A Painted Sunshine, by Second Painted Sign out of Miss Freckles Handle, marked a total score of 928.21 on four head, earning them the title and $25,000. This was Kirchenschlager's second win on the head side with different horses in the ARHFA's seven-year history.
