Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Rides High with $65,000 Top Seller
One of the most prestigious sales in Arizona during the winter months is the Hershberger Performance Horses Sale at Westworld of Scottsdale.
The 2024 offering set came to the auction ring on March 1, bringing 116 head of quality horses. When the gavel dropped on lot No. 63, South Ram Gradie, a 2017 Grey Gelding, ended up being the high seller at $65,000.
South Ram Gradie was consigned by Kale and Tatum Peterson. The good-looking grey gelding was sired by Ben A Genuine Dude and out of Moses Lil Gem (South Ram Moses). He had been a ranch horse deluxe and finished on the head side.
Lot 5, My Stetson 801, a 2018 Buckskin gelding by Driftwood Stetson and out of Mccatchmydriftcervi (Lone Drifter), was the second highest seller at $62,000. The head and heel horse combination was consigned by Brad and Barrie Smith.
Reed Boos brought Ultimate Game of Tag to the sale ring and ended up with the third high seller. The 2019 bay gelding was by the famous Hashtags and out of MH Short Lena Ultimo (Little Peppys Ultimo). The Riata Buckle nominated gelding was shown in the heading and heeling and brought $55,000.
Lot No. 104, Smokin Hot Chex Hot, lived up to his name. The 2017 Buckskin gelding was shown in the heading and had been used as a safe, quiet trail horse. The gelding, consigned by Beverly Servi, was by Chex Hot and out of Ms Smokin Red Buck (Ima Two Eyed Redbuck). The gavel dropped at $52,000.
Rounding out the top five sellers, Gunna Chromeya, a 2018 black gelding by Gunnatrashya out of Custom Sable (Custom Crome), brought $50,000 for consigners Taylor Cherry and Colton Kiassen. The 1350-pound gelding laid down on command and would also pick up your rope for you so you didn't have to dismount. The talented gelding was shown in the heading.
