GUTHRIE, Oklahoma. - The Barrel Futurities of America 2023 World Finals has started at the Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

There has been no shortage of barrel racing action in the past few days and that remained in the High Rollers 2D Race.

Riders were given the option to carry over their times from previous classes throughout the past few days.

Brandon Cullins and MJ Segers Fast Lane, by The Goodbye Lane, had a record setting run at this same arena a few weeks ago during the Pink Buckle. This team laid down yet another incredible run at Lazy E not only winning Round one of the Derby, but carrying over to the High Stakes race.

Right off the bat riders and their equine athletes had to beat their time, but no one did and Cullins landed top of the leaderboard with a 15.098 seconds run, winning them just shy of $8,000 between the Derby round one and High Stakes win.

A half second behind them winning the second division was Jett Petkovich on her self trained cutting bred mare Lady Jazarell, by Jazarell Cat. The little red mare might not be bred for barrels or in any of the high dollar barrel incentives, but her quick footedness kept her right in the pack of the long-legged barrel ponies.

"It was neat to be only a half second off of Brandon Cullins. I've learned a lot from him," said Petkovich. "He told me a few years back that you gotta live in your parents basement to focus on becoming a winner so I moved back home".

Thanks to Split Timing, the exact breakdown of time was able to be seen between Cullins and Petkovich at each barrel and the run home.

Cullins ran to and around his first barrel in 3.002 seconds, then to and around second in 3.869 seconds, followed by to and around third barrel in 4.752 seconds and finally the run back across the timer in 3.476 seconds.

Petkovich ran to and around her first barrel in a faster time of 2.998 seconds, then to and around second in 4.020 seconds, followed by to and around third barrel in the exact same time of 4.752 seconds and finally the run from third to home in 3.835 seconds.

With over $30,000 paid out in the High Stakes race only a select few placed in the leaderboard, earning money .
