Kelsey Love Thomas Reigns Supreme as World's Greatest Horsewoman - Again!
The annual Art of the Cowgirl event at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre in Queen Creek, Ariz., emerged as a vibrant celebration of the Western industry and lifestyle. One of its premier competitions was the highly anticipated World's Greatest Horsewoman, featuring skilled riders excelling in competitive cow horse riding, including herd work, reining, steer stopping and fence work. In the 2024 edition, Kelsey Love Thomas and her 2015 sorrel mare, "Kit Kat Jerrie" (known as Elvira), took center stage, securing victory for the third time.
During the herd work, Thomas and Kit Kat Jerrie claimed the top position with a score of 148.00, closely followed by Colee Charlesworth and Desires Sweet Pepto in second with a score of 147.00. In the reining, Thomas and Kit Kat Jerrie tied for sixth place with a score of 147.00, alongside Chantz Stewart and Shineyy, Paris Starn and Santanas Rey Gun, and Whitney Hall and J Noble Daggett. In the steer stopping, Thomas and Kit Kat Jerrie finished second with a score of 148.00, just two points behind Whitney Hall and J Noble Daggett, who scored 150.00. In the fence work, Thomas and Kit Kat Jerrie shared second place with a score of 149.00, along with Kaleigh King and Cher Is Ozzum, and Karen Stallings and Sheza Voodoo Dr. They were all 1.5 points behind Chantz Stewart and Shineyy, who claimed the top position with a score of 150.5. Thomas and Kit Kat Jerrie secured first place in the Finals with a total score of 587.00 points, earning $14,944 and the title of World's Greatest Horsewoman.
Beyond her success at the Art of the Cowgirl event, Thomas boasts an impressive list of achievements. She holds the title of five-time Ranch Horse Association of America world champion, two-time Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association world champion, Ranch Cowgirls Rodeo Association world champion, and National Reined Cow Horse Association Limited Open Bridle World Champion.
