Mare Power Recognized at 2023 BFA

The Barrel Futurities of America World Finals truly showcases the talent of young barrel horses.
Not only are the best colts and trainers put on display, but BFA also recognizes influential mares in the industry.
This prestigious award is called the Mulberry Canyon Moon Mare Power award.
Every year at the BFA the famed Dunn Ranch presents a stand out mare with this award in honor of their beloved mare, Mulberry Canyon Moon.
With over $400,000 in lifetime earnings as well as three round wins at the National Finals Rodeo, and a qualification to the American. Her progeny earnings are over $530,000 with multiple NFR American Qualifiers.
"Our program started because of Mulberry, and we want to recognize others as they go on this amazing mare power journey as we have," said Dunn Ranch on social media.
Opening up the nominations to the public, Dunn Ranch asks every year who the barrel industry would like to recognize via social media.
In 2023 the mare that received this award was RC Back In Black, affectionately known as "Beauty."
Beauty made a name for herself by carrying Jane Melby to the NFR and won three go rounds. This team had many other accomplishments including the fastest time at the 2011 Rodeo Houston. Beauty had a lifetime earnings of over $151,000.
Not only did she shine in the arena, but as a mother also. Her foals have already won nearly $1 million and her colt, Blackkout, set the record for highest seller in Pink Buckle sale history when he sold for $875,000.
Congratulations to Jane Melby and her phenomenal mare RC Back In Black.
