Easily revered as one of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) best players in the league, Jimmy Butler III is anything but "just" a great basketball player. The 6'7", 230-pound forward has been setting the court on fire for the Miami Heat since 2019.

Just this week, "Jimmy Buckets" returned to the court from missing 11 of the last 12 games to score 31 points, shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 15-or-16 shooting from the line, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. This kind of play for a season-high 40 minutes on the court showcases his talents, but it also exhibits his incredible work ethic.

When Butler got done on the court, it is possible that one of the most captivating athletes in NBA history might have gone home and written a country song. Wait, what?

That's right. The six-time NBA All-Star, five-time All-NBA Team honoree, five-time NBA All-Defensive Team honoree, and Olympic Gold Medalist is also a country music songwriter with aspirations to produce a complete album and certainly a hit song.

In an interview with The Guardian, the avid country music fan shared that while over the last year, he has written more than 60 songs with hopes to increase that number to over 200 before producing his own album. Butler sees himself as a songwriter/producer in this newfound aspect of his well-rounded life.

"I'm like the DJ Khaled of this thing.  He's a crazy talented individual. To bring all these artists together and to have them be able to maintain the egos...he's mastered it."

Butler took on this project as a way to "humble" himself.  In his vast view of life, he admitted that many times, himself included, people think things are easy. Thinking that he could make a No. 1 hit song before he started, the vision became clear that the task wasn't so easy.

"You don't know how difficult it is to make a number one song and how difficult it is to have all these different songs on the back burner. It's fun, and I do love it, but my goodness, it's difficult."

An ever-growing resume has proven Butler to be much more than a star basketball player. His antics on media day are just a small glimpse into the character within.  Butler encourages people to be themselves. "One of my biggest things is just to continually try and make people so comfortable in their own skin that they'll unapologetically always be them."

Being himself in every sense of the word has been a good path for building the Butler brand. Before starting his venture into country music, the all-star athlete embarked on coffee. BIGFACE coffee was launched in October 2021 in connection with International Coffee Day.

As expected from the man who lives life to the fullest, Butter didn't just endorse coffee; he traveled to Columbia and Peru so that he could learn what it really takes to make coffee. He wanted to fully understand the process in order to bring a top-tier specialty coffee to the market so the mainstream consumer could enjoy something different.

The date is still unknown as to when the the world will be introduced to the music of Jimmy Butler, but given his continuous success in everything he engages in, it might not be long before the world recognizes him as an all-star country music songwriter.
