The Oklahoma City Futurity features a slot barrel race exclusively for the top 40 3- and 4-year-old equine athletes and their trainers.

This race is highly anticipated as it marks the beginning of the brand new futurity year on Nov. 15. For many of these colts, this will be their first or second barrel race, making it a high-pressure situation.

The race is worth a whopping $171,000, putting immense pressure on both the horses and trainers every second they spend in the arena.

Running a 15.636 was Janna Brown and her colt SH Ima Bullionaire "Timmie", sired by Bullseye Bullion who has won over $70,000 himself and is still competing while standing at stud.

Brown and Timmie topped the leaderboard with that run, winning the massive first place check of $95,000.

Right on their trail with a run time of 15.727 seconds was DaCota Monk and RDC Famous Design. With Monk coming off his win at the Breeder's Challenge Futurity, he was gunning to win some more and win some more he did.

Monk and the Slick By Design daughter won $25,000 as the OKC Futurity Slot Race Reserve Champion. With that win, Slick By Design surpassed the $2 million mark in offspring earnings in 2023 alone.

This race kicks off a week full of barrel racing competition through Dec. 10 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds and Jim Norrick Arena.
