Ceeli Pinkston and her phenomenal stallion, Hes So Epic "Icey" by Epic Leader out of Maddie Ross, have been showing up and showing off at barrel races. After setting six arena records in 2023 and their lifetime earnings at over $370,000, 2024 could be another hot year.

The Greg Olson Races was one of the first stops of the year for Pinkston and Icey.

Futurity, Derby, Senior, Youth, and Open races were all at the Buckeye Equestrian and Events Center. The well-known facility in Buckeye, Ariz., is under new ownership.

The new owners, DECA Ranch, have already updated RV spots, stalls and much more. Focusing on bringing this event center to the next level and hosting various events, including ropings and barrel races, to kick off the new year, the owners have already had positive feedback.

One thing that hasn't changed is the arena's great ground. Pinkston proved that this past weekend, winning the Open, Derby, youth, and the averages by an entire half-second. This team has had success here and has already held the arena record.

Pinkston and Icey showed they had ice in their veins as they flew across the timers, clocking multiple fast times, including a 16.9-second run in the open and a 16.8-second run in the second round of the derby.

After the weekend, packed full of hundreds of barrel runs, Pinkston cashed in almost $5,000, a mini truck, saddle, buckles and multiple other awards. This team continues to be a force to be reckoned with.

"It's an amazing feeling, having raised a phenomenal rider; I am so proud of her," said Chery Pinkston, Ceeli's mom, who hauls her everywhere and accompanies her. "We had a lady come up to us the other day complimenting how great Ceeli and Icey were. Hearing that just makes me feel over the moon."

Pinkston and Icey have been setting records, picking up checks, and proving again and again that this junior stallion deserves to be noticed. Along with his success in the arena, Icey has also been successful outside it. Icey's stud book is already filled for 2024 and 2025. His waitlist has a waitlist, and he already has a list for 2026.

They are now headed to the Sherry Cervi youth race, along with many other high-dollar races over the next few weeks.
