Nike Polls Fans on Kobe 6 'Reverse Grinch' Release
It is difficult to get a majority of people to agree on anything these days. Yet, athletes, fans, and sneakerheads remain united in wanting more sneakers from the signature line of Kobe Bryant to be released.
Over the past three and half years, Nike has made it challenging for the average consumer to purchase a pair of Nike Kobe sneakers at retail price. Even after the highly anticipated relaunch of the "Kobe Brand" in August, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro 'Halo' was released in limited quantities.
Fans hoping to score a pair of the Nike Kobe 6 Protro 'Reverse Grinch' sneakers should probably temper their expectations. The basketball shoes are scheduled to be released on Saturday, December 16. However, Nike used the SNKRS app to poll online users on how they want the release handled.
As you can see from the screenshot below, Nike asked its online community, "If we released the Kobe 6 Protro 'Reverse' early, which launch method would you prefer?" The two options were "Shock Drop" and "Exclusive Access."

While we appreciate Nike seeking feedback, the online poll seems hasty and does not inspire confidence about the upcoming release. Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers legend do not care how the sneakers are released; they care about how many sneakers are released.
Another limited-edition release would only add more insult to injury for fans who have been through enough over the past few years. Following the disappointing relaunch of the Kobe Brand, Vanessa Bryant blamed Nike for the low production numbers and vowed to continue working toward more availability.
While we are confident the production numbers of Nike Kobe sneakers will gradually increase over time, it is worth reminding everyone that Bryant's signature line was always built for the masses who wanted to play in the best basketball shoe available. Since Bryant's tragic and untimely passing, his footwear has become a luxury item reserved for the few.
