Amid Flurry of Signings, UFL Teams Drop Others, Including QB Carson Strong

Houston guard Paul Adams and Michigan quarterback Carson Strong were released on Monday.

The UFL announced Monday night that 17 players had signed contracts, also sharing that guard Paul Adams had been released by the Houston Roughnecks and the Michigan Panthers had released quarterback Carson Strong.

Adams spent the past two seasons with the New Orleans Breakers in the USFL, starting all 10 games at right tackle last year. He also did stints in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants between 2019 through 2021 and was a three-year starter in college at Missouri.

The move gives UFL teams a chance to go after one of the top offensive linemen in free agency with Adams available. He’s been durable and reliable throughout his USFL career and gives any UFL team experience on the offensive line.

Strong was also in the USFL last year with the Michigan Panthers, throwing for 266 yards with one touchdown to two interceptions before being placed on injured reserve midway through the season. During the 2022 NFL season, Strong played for the Arizona Cardinals and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He was a star in college at Nevada as a three-year starter for the Wolf Pack. Strong threw for 9,379 yards with 74 touchdowns to just 19 interceptions and finished with a 20-10 record as the starter with a winning record every season.

Quarterback movement has been happening all over the UFL as teams try to establish their QB rooms ahead of training camp. Strong has all the mechanics to be a quarterback in the league if he can see more playing time on the field.
